What is this stand used for?

It holds a cookbook or recipe binder upright on the kitchen counter so you can read it hands-free while you cook. The supplier also lists it as multi-functional — it works equally well as a small display rack for an art book, magazine or framed photo.

How does it work?

Two solid wood pieces have matching slots cut into them so they interlock at right angles into an X-frame. The base piece has a small step at the front that catches the spine of an open book and keeps it upright. There are no screws, no glue and no metal hardware.

What is it made of?

Solid wood with a baked-on protective finish in a dark walnut tone. The manufacturer lists the construction as solid wood and the finish technique as baking paint, but does not specify the wood species.

How is this different from your other cookbook stand?

Our other cookbook stand uses a larger A-frame panel design with a metal page bar at the base. This one is the simpler, more compact option — a smaller X-frame in dark stained wood, with no metal parts, designed to sit unobtrusively on the counter.

It arrives as two pieces that slot together by hand in a few seconds. No tools, no screws, no instructions needed — line up the slots and push.

Is it foldable for storage?

The manufacturer lists it as non-foldable, but since the design is interlocking it pulls apart into two flat pieces that store easily in a drawer or behind a row of jars.

Is the wood sustainably sourced?

The supplier lists FSC sourcing — the Forest Stewardship Council standard for responsibly managed forestry. We pass on what the supplier states; we do not separately audit individual batches.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not soak the wood or put it in a dishwasher. As with any wooden kitchen item, avoid prolonged contact with standing water or strong solvents.
